In April, the CMC Education Foundation will host a celebration to spotlight the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System District Teacher of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year. One of the top three finalists is Lisa Cochran.
Lisa Cochran is a math teacher at Montgomery Central High School. She has been with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System for 15 years, two years at Kenwood High School and eight at Montgomery Central High School. She graduated from Austin Peay State University with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Education. She has experience teaching Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Trigonometry. Lisa has lived in Clarksville since attending Austin Peay and currently lives with her high school sweetheart and their four children. Lisa took a break after ten years of teaching to stay home with her children, and has been back in the classroom now for almost eight years. Lisa’s teaching philosophy is, “Every student brings unique experiences and perspectives to the classroom. I want my students to be actively engaged in their learning and to take ownership…Education should go beyond memorization and should foster the development of critical thinking and problem-solving, which will help students in the real world. Learning is a continuous process that goes beyond the classroom. Every student can learn and grow with effort and perseverance. My goal is to help students reach their highest potential.”
